FiftyOneFifty:  Update on the Mi MiniPC.  Apparently the design change made during the funding campaign to go with a faster Intel proc necessitated a slightly larger case and active cooling.  This also includes a larger 6″ touch screen and a delay on shipments to at least November, if the developers are to be believed at all.  As a crowd funder, the changes are not a deal breaker to me, but it means I won’t be bringing it to OLF.  https://liliputing.com/2018/09/mi-mini-pc-delayed-redesigned-crowdfunding.html

Kwisher:
Looking for a battery pack/UPS for Raspberry Pi. Unit needs to supply continuous power when main power is lost. Any suggestions?

TIA

    • Forgot to mention that these units need to be small enough to be fastened behind large LCD displays as the Pi’s are serving digital signage.

Consensus is RavPower since they can output while plugged in.  https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OQ19QYA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  I’ve also used this addon board https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JLEO9UC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but the battery doesn’t have nearly the capacity.

Hi Honkey,

I’m *way* behind with my podcast listening and have just got to episode
106 of LinuxLUGcast. You were asking about xdotool. There have been
several HPR shows about it, so I thought you might find the references
useful.

Show Topics

FiftyOneFifty:

Lots to discuss:
Could the new Code of Conduct for Linux Kernel development trigger a “kill switch” of developers withdrawing their code?  Eric S. Ramond says “The threat has teeth” https://lulz.com/linux-devs-threaten-killswitch-coc-controversy-1252/
Might mainboard manufacturer SuperMicro have been pressured by the Chinese governent into adding “Spyware” chips to their boards? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQIWk1XnVcU&feature=em-uploademail
Will Google be facing the same anti-trust penalties relevent to Android in the U.S. as they did in the EU after all?

A couple friends and I have been talking about a soft-reboot of Oggcast Planet Live.  By soft-reboot, rather than creating a separate event, we would create a concensus on an existing con and try to get as many Linux podcasts in one place at one time as possible.  If that works out, we’ll see going forward if there is interest in an event for just us.  I’d like feedback on my personal e-mail if there is any interest.

Then add a 5v powered usb hub and mod the cable to work from usb, your external memory will also work

I was a bit off
